Snax Box # 090 Trees On My Waffle

I gave the kids the gardenia blueberry waffle.  Cut them into half and divide into two snack boxes.  I used cheese to make two trees for lil princess and put some 'stars'  on it.  The yellow star food cup contains of some cornflakes and honey stars.  Her dessert was a marshmallow, strawberries and a tiny cherry tomato.

With the left over cheese, I was only able to cut one more tree for lil prince and two tiny stars.  He also had some strawberries & cherry tomato.  The smaller food cup has some cornflakes and honey stars as well.

I bet the first thing that they eat in this snack box are the stars!  Coz it taste like sweets to them :P

Snax Box # 089 Veggies N Fruits

The theme for Monday was Veggies N Fruits ^__^.  As soon as the kids were taking their afternoon nap, I prepared their snack box for Monday.  I boiled most of the veggies.  I gave lil prince broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, corn and some cherry tomatoes.

For the fruits food cup, I packed some mini green grapes and strawberries.  Lil prince loves to eat mayonnaise.  In order for him to eat his veggies, I gave him some mayonnaise sauce for him to dip.  I told him it's like eating his fries with tomato sauce :)

I love this snack box as it's so colourful....I have green, white, orange, red and yellow!

Hopefully no Monday blues for him :P

Snax Box # 088 Mini Cream Puff

On Tuesday,  I only need to make one snack box for lil prince as my lil princess was required to bring a cake to school.   She was going to have cake party activity.  Hence, I went to the cake shop to buy her a piece of cake and at the same time I bought some mini cream puff for lil prince.

I place two tiny "hearts" on top of the mini cream puffs as I felt that they look a bit plain ^__^.   I use my heart food cup to put two tomatoes and a strawberry food cup for the tiny red strawberry.  What I like most about today's snack box is the biscuits :P.  A friend of mine gave me this smiley face pineapple biscuits during CNY.  I think it's super cute!  Looking at the biscuits already makes me happy!  For the little space in the middle, I squeeze in the butterfly marshmallow.

For Lil Prince

Last week I went to pasar malam and bought the green tea cheese cake and today I made GREEN butterflies for the kids ^__^.  Put some cheese at the corners of the butterflies and also some sprinkles (the pink and purple small dots are sprinkles that we use to put on cupcakes).

I gave both of them some grapes, strawberries and added some honey stars.  To accompanied my green butterflies, I also added a butterfly marshmallow.

 For Lil Princess

I saw these mini grapes in the market last weekend and I love the size of it.  They are smaller in size as compared to the normal grapes.  I felt that it is suitable for my kids as I don't have to cut them into two.  It fits perfectly in my snack box.

Snax Box # 086 L-O-V-E

I have a few of these heart shape cookies cutter at home.  Hence, most of the time you will see me preparing lots of heart shapes bread for my two kids.  I guess they must be bored ^__^.  Last weekend, I made some konyakku jelly and thought it would be nice to have a theme for my snack box today---> LOVE! I know Valentine's Day is over but love is still in the air :)

For Lil Prince snack box....
I gave him a heart shaped jelly and two heart shape bread with cheese.  If you can see the shaped of the biscuits, it is also a heart shape :P.  There is also a heart shaped marshmallows and some honey stars.  To bad, no heart shaped honey stars, else I would definately put them together.

 

For Lil Princess Box...

I normally prepared a simple snax box for my lil princess as she was still young.  I gave her two heart shaped bread with cheese and the heart shaped biscuits.  Instead of giving her the konyakku jelly, I packed some grapes and strawberries.  There was also a heart shaped marshmallows in the middle :)

Snax Box # 085 Flowery Cheese

 Lil Prince Snack Box

This year I need to prepare two snack box for the kids and sometimes I just ran out of ideas.  I have not been so hardworking lately.  Only on weekends, when I have more time to think and plan for their food box the next day.  Last week, we went to Jusco to buy some groceries and since I bought some GREENs, I packed it for lil prince snack box.  I boiled the broccoli and cut a few pieces of cucumber.  Added some 'cheese dip' (in the red food cup) for him to eat together with the veggies.  We bought some cheese cake and I cut them into flower shape and decorated it with stars.

For lil princess snack box, I only gave her some cheese cake, honey stars and biscuits.  Both of them also had fruits for desserts.  I always like to pack fruits in my kids snack box.  Added a small colourful marshmallow for lil princess too.

Both of them came back with an empty box yesterday!  Really worth the effort.  I always have the satisfaction ('moon chuk kam' - in cantonese) when my kids ate all the food that I prepared for them.  I felt that it's such a big achievement for me ^__^ .  How about you?  Do you feel the same too?

Snax Box # 084 - Elephant and Marie D Cat

I have been really busy ever since the school started this year.  I am already looking forward for the next school holiday, can you imagine that?  I think the upcoming holidays will be the CNY break, which is just a month away.  Every morning was a rush and this year since both my kids are going to school in the morning, I need to wake up early to get them ready.  Didn't really have time to make nice food box for the kids.  At night when I've put the kids to sleep, I can hardly keep my eyes open.  Gosh!  I must be aging, guess its time for me to look for some supplements to keep up with the energy.  Didn't have time to visit other mummy blogs too.  Must catch up again with you guys this weekend!

This year, I need to prepare two snack boxes, one for lil prince and the other for lil princess.  I gave lil princess a smaller food box as I'm not sure how much she will eat in school.  For the first day, here's what I had prepared for her.

I gave her bread with cheese and some fruits (oranges and strawberries)

For lil prince I made an elephant bread with cheese, a car full of biscuits and some crab meat.  I had a strawberry food cup to house my lovely red strawberry.  It just fit perfectly.  Gee...I love this food cup the most among all my other food cups.

Here are the two snack box for my two angels. Both of them came back with an empty box!

Snax Box # 082 Back to School with D Birds

Happy New Year! 

I've been away for almost 10 days and it was really a fruitful holidays for us as we get to spend quality time with our kids.  It was our year end break.  Sorry for not visiting your blogs and I'm sure I have miss a lot of good post!  Don't worry, I'll catch up soon.  Hope all of you had a great holidays!  I do miss the school holidays.

We were getting ready for my lil prince first day of school.  He is a big fan of Angry Bird and this year, we got him an AB bag and AB pencil box.  To follow the theme for his first day,  I made him his favourite character....the Angry Birds with cheese.  At the bottom of the cheese was wholemeal bread with ham.  I used some seaweed for the eye brows and the tail.  I put a dab of tomato sauce on the cheeks ^__^.

The other two side dishes were teddy bears biscuits and water melons.  Dessert was only a heart shaped marshmallow.

Snax Box # 081 Wholemeal Bread Teddies

 This week is the last week before the kids go for school holidays.  I really look forward to have almost two months break.  Yipee....looking forward for more rest at night and also no more morning rush. 

I just packed a simple snack box for my lil prince today.  I gave him two teddy bears whole meal bread with ham.  The teddy bears look was not so visible, I guess due to the brownish wholemeal bread.  I added some stars for the expression :)

I was also experimenting some marshmallows with chocolate and put one for him with his name written on it. 
 
On the other hand, these few nights I have been busy putting on my thinking cap on what to prepare for lil prince year end class party too.  I am planning to make marshmallows again.  It's something easy and simple to do (lazy mummy)....hehehehe...I hope I'll have time to pack some simple goodies bag and also most importantly not forgetting some simple gift for the teachers too.

Snax Box # 080 Sweet Potato & Mix Vegetables

These two weeks I was busy doing revision with lil prince for his kindy assessment and didn't have time to make nice snack box for him:(.  I guess we as the parents are more 'kan cheong' than the child.  Maybe he's still too young to realize that he is having assessment.  On the other hand, it is also good for him as there will be no stress but the stress is on Mummy!

Here's a simple snack box that I asked lil prince to help me yesterday.  I boiled the sweet potato and asked him to cut them into shape butterflies and flowers using the cookie cutters.  I did once before the flower shape sweet potato and this is the second time.  I like to engage my lil prince to pack his food box together with me as he shows interest in his food and most of the time, he will also finished them.  Probably because he also plays a part in packing the food box and does not want his effort wasted ^__^.

Snax Box # 079 Mushroom Mashed Potato

 

I made mashed potato for lil prince snack box today.  I boiled two potatoes, added one slice of cheese and some fried button mushroom from can.  I cooked the mashed potato the night before and kept it in the fridge because I know if I prepared this in the morning, it will be very rush for me and also the potato takes time to soften.  So, I make it the night before and just reheat the next morning before I placed them in my food cup (to save time).  I also added some seaweed decoration on top of my mushroom mashed potato (the flowers and cars).   I only gave lil prince two food cups of mashed potato and the remaining ones are for mummy's breakfast :P.

On the butterfly food cup, I packed some marshmallows chocolate cornflakes.  Added few pieces of strawberries and also some ring snacks. I got this 10 grains organic ring snacks from ZenXin Organic Park in JB.  They were selling for RM10 for four packets.

Snax Box # 078 Simple Egg Roll

Made something simple today for lil prince snack box.  I fried an egg with mushrooms, rolled it and tied it with a string of seaweed in the middle.  Added four cheese flowers on top.  The side dishes are fruits that consists of some grapes, strawberries and also two tiny cherry tomatoes.

The yellow food cup housed some froot loops and also a tiny mushroom on top as his dessert ^__^.  It was also a bit rush to prepare this in the morning.  I still prefer to pack his snack box the night before but then on the other hand, some food are best prepared fresh especially when it comes to frying stuff.

Snax Box # 077 Carrots & Sausages

Last few days I was lazy and only pack some bread that I bought from Kings for lil prince snack box.  Yesterday, he came home with his snack box full (he only ate some of the fruits that I pack for him).  *sigh*...he must have been bored with the bread.  Anyway I can't blame him too as he has been eating bread for the past few days.

So, yesterday I asked him what he wants for his snack today.  He answered "Sausages".  I boiled four cocktail sausages and cut them to make it look like heart shape.  Added some heart shape cheese and crab meat on top.  The cheese were decorated with tiny sugar stars.  I showed it to him and reminded him that he must eat his snack box tomorrow.  Here's the conversation we had about this snack box yesterday (after I showed him his sausages):

Lil Prince : Where's my mayonnaise?
Mummy: Why do you need mayonnaise for your snack box?
Lil Prince : I want to eat mayonnaise.
Mummy : You want to dip your sausages with mayonnaise?
Lil Prince : No, I want to eat carrots with mayonnaise.  You put some carrots in my box-lah.

Without any second thought I cepat-cepat boiled some carrots and added to his snack box.  This was the first time he told me that he wants to eat carrots!  From my previous post, you would have noticed that I've been trying hard to get my kids to eat vegetables.  Today, I am absolutely happy that lil prince took the initiative to tell me himself that he wants to eat carrots!  No fruits today, everything packed as per lil prince request :P.

Hmmm....maybe next time I can add some GREENs, perhaps?  Well...no need to rush, one step at a time :)

Snax Box #076 Butterflies on Butterscotch Bread

I bought the Butterscotch bread for lil prince yesterday.  Although it was a lil pricey but I like the taste of bread.  I don't have to add any jam on the bread and just eat it as it is.  Something simple yet delicious.

Here's a my snack box BEFORE & AFTER photo.  I cut the bread into rectangular shape to fit in my snack box.  I added a few food butterfly food cups.  I took this photo coz I think it was rather plain and boring.

This photo was the AFTER "touched up" session.  I use some cheese (different colours) for my butterflies.  Added some seaweed as the expression and the top left corner was suppose to be a lil red ribbon (I use a crab meat).  The shape of the ribbon was not obvious,though.  I had left overs some water melons, cut them into butterfly shape and added my butterfly Konnyaku Jelly that I made over the weekend.

If you can see below the two tiny butterflies on your right are mix vegetables (consist of carrots, sweet corns and green peas).  I told my boy that he needs to eat his vegetables first before he can eat his jelly.  I wonder if he will follow my instruction when he opens his snack box ^__^.

Snax Box # 075 I Love Fridays

TGIF!!  I love Fridays!  For working mums, we always look forward for the weekends to spend time with our lil ones at home.  Here's a snack box to show how much I LOVE Fridays ^__^.

I make a hard boiled egg for lil prince snack box today.  Added my heart shaped food cups to go with my theme of the day H-E-A-R-T.  The bread at the side were made of ham and whole meal bread. I rolled them up like a sushi.  I placed some heart shape seaweed on top and also a red sugar heart.

I also gave him some green peas (I am still on my GREENs project) topped with crab meat (red heart shape was made of crab meat).  As for the dessert, I put in some heart shape water melon, some biscuits and a mushroom marshmallows :P. 

I used my heart shape mold to make my egg.  First I boiled the egg for 10 minutes, peel off the shell, placed the egg in the mold and soaked in cold water for another 10 minutes.  This is to hold the egg to get the heart shaped.

After 10 minutes, I removed the mold and here's how my egg look like, I cut it into half and pack for lil prince snack box.  The other half of the egg?...............My lil prince ate it for supper ^__^

Snax Box #074 Hello Kitty Mooncake

Another mooncake for snack box this week :P

After I have failed with my marie mooncake, I did another round of "ping pei" hello kitty mooncake.  I prefer this as compared to my marie shaped mooncake because this one use natural flavour.  I used the cherries to get the pink colour.  So today I packed a small piece of mooncake, biscuits and froot loops for lil prince snack box. Hmmm....this snack box is a lil too girlish for a boy, right? hehehehe...I hope the girls in his class won't laugh at him today ^__^.

Lately I am also training my lil prince to eat kiwi.  I bought both the yellow and green kiwi for him and gave him a few slices.  I like kiwi fruits because they are rich in vitamin C.  I am keeping my fingers cross to have an empty snack box back today ^__^.

Snax Box # 073 Marie Mooncake

I guess this week theme will be on mooncakes since the Mid-Autumn festival is this weekend (I hope I got the date right).  This year I tried making my 'ping pei' mooncake again (will blog about it in my next post).  I was a bit reluctant to post this photo coz my mooncake didn't really turn out nice but my lil prince was there to support me, he told me 'mummy I want to take this to school'.  Awww...isn't that sweet?  Just when mummy was a bit disappointed after the mooncake failure, here comes the sweet words from my lil one. 

I used my marie cookie cutter to make the shape of the mooncake.  On the right was a hello kitty mooncake jelly that I made last week.  The other side dishes in the snack box are biscuits, strawberries and cherry tomatoes.

Snax Box # 072 Heart Shape Chocolate Brownie

My lil prince and I made some chocolate brownies yesterday and I cut it into heart shape for his snack box today.  I followed the recipe from Merryn's blog.  It was an extremely easy-to-make brownie.  Thanks, Merryn for sharing the recipe and the step by step photos.  Hope to blog about my chocolate brownie experience in my next post.

I have added some 'sugar hearts' on my brownies and as usual gave some side dishes such as cherry tomatoes and strawberries in his snack box.  I also packed some froot loops and a few organic cheese rings.  Lastly, a small 'mushroom' marshmallow as dessert :P.

Snax Box # 071 Happy Butterflies

It's the first day of the week but no Monday blues as we look forward for this week, there's only four working days :P.  Hope everyone had a good time during the long weekend.  Three days is not really very long but for working mums, we always treasure our days off where we can spend time with our family and kids.

I didn't know what to pack for my lil boy today and I bought a pack of the twiggies waffle cake at the sundry shop yesterday.  I cut the waffle cake into half and I only pack half for lil prince as I don't think he can finish the whole waffle.  To make my snack box more attractive, I added some cheese 'butterflies' with a happy smile.  The two lil so called dimple (in red) are tomato sauce.  I gave a tiny drop on the cheek to make the butterflies 'blush'...hehehehe...

The other two side dishes are peach and cherry tomatoes (one yellow and one red).  Not forgetting his favourite biscuits.

I bought this 'biskut ais jem' from Giant and they brought back my childhood memories.  I remember we ate this a lot when I was young.  We will always choose our favourite colours to eat.  Now, it has become my lil prince favourite biscuits.

Snax Box #070 Angry Bird Fish Cake

Look what I have discovered!  Angry Bird Fish Cake!  It really caught me by surprise when I first saw this.  I was so delighted and it's like I've found a treasure in the treasure island!  It is so interesting to see how they have turn this into food.  I've also notice that some steamboat restaurant do have this fish cake in their menu.

I think they are really adorable!  I bought two packets, one red and one yellow.  The yellow birds has smoked cheese flavour and the red one just taste like the normal fish cake (like those stars, teddy bears and nemo fish cake).

I packed four pieces of the AB fish cake for lil prince today.  I also added some green peas and strawberries.  Since I have limited space left, I gave him some froot loops instead of biscuits.  These angry bird fish cake do make my snack box look more colourful ^__^.

Although my lil prince is a fan of Angry Bird, he is not so into playing the game nowadays because we don't have an iPAD.  Only once in a blue moon he get to play on my hp.  Well, I guess not having an iPAD is also an advantage :P.
